Who is the course suitable for?

The course is particularly suitable for Highway Engineers, Transport Planners and Planners involved with Development proposals. The course is suitable for new and existing staff.

Prerequisites

A general engineering or planning education is recommended.

What does the course cover?

This course provides an introduction to the main legislation governing Highway Law. It is particularly suitable for Highway Engineers, Transport Planners and Planners involved in the negotiation and preparation of agreements under S38 & S278 of the Highways Act 1980 and S106 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990. The course comprises six sessions, as set out below.

  • Session 1: Town & Country Planning Act 1990
  • Session 2: Local Plans and Structure Plans
  • Session 3: Highways Act 1980
  • Session 4: Section 38 Agreements
  • Session 5: Section 278 Agreements
  • Session 6: Section 106 Agreements
